Welcome to the website of the Nature and Environmental Education Centre in Hoogezand-Sappemeer. Here you can find information about this great project. Foundation for Nature and Environmental Education Hoogezand-Sappemeer, abbreviated to NME-HS has existed since 2007 in the municipality Hoogezand-Sappemeer. In the area where the Education Centre is located, is more than 20 years a petting zoo. This zoo was also reason to take the big step to start an Education Centre. We offer not only the Petting zoo and the Education Centre, with education classes for elementary schools in Hoogezand-Sappemeer, but you can walk through the Nature Gardens. On the page "Nature Garden" you will find more information about these beautiful gardens, and their purpose. You can at the Nature House 't Gooregt drink a cup of coffee, overlooking the zoo and natural gardens from our panoramic terrace. NME-HS is in the 50-acre park on the west side of Gorecht Hoogezand. In this park, which was completely renovated in 2007, you can walk or sports. In winter there is ample use of the rink. Next to the park you will find out the nature area Kropswolderbuitenpolder adjacent to the Westerbroekstermadepolder. A little further out is the nature area Leinwijk.
